Run the employee lifecycle on an append-only status log (Joined / Left / Rejoined), so full rehire history survives. Pay heads are typed Earning or Deduction; changing an employee's position rebuilds their pay-head structure from the new role's template.

Leave balances carry forward, the holiday calendar feeds leave validation, and approved unpaid leave auto-adjusts the salary sheet.
